KODACHADRI Located 1343 meters above the sea level and lying in the lap of the western ghats, kodachadri has grown as a heaven for nature lovers. This scenic hill station is totally filled with flora and founa sharing history with several myths and legends. It is a heaven for trekkers. And the Moola staana (center of origin) of Mookambika godess is situated at the top of the Kodachadri hill. THE MAYURAVANA HOMESTAY Situated in the foothills of the Chandradrona hill station and surrounded by the coffee estates, the two day stay gave us a heavenly experience. It is situated in the village named Mallenahalli which is 12 Km's from Chikkamagaluru town. The village itself has many myths and stories behind it. The host told that the Giris (hills, particularly mullayanagiri, Bababudangiri, Seetalayyanagiri and Deviramana betta) gives birth to many water source which runs through their village, and that medicinal powers of the water are absorbed in the land. So it is a kind of spiritual place. And he also told that no one dies of snakebite in that village. It was evening when we reached there, we were welcomed by a warm coffee and some homemade snacks. Later after freshen up , the host took us for a estate walk. The estate is spread over 12 acr...

TALASI ABBI FALLS We started from Udupi hoping to see the Kunchikal falls, which is the least explored falls of India. We didn't have any idea about the whereabouts of falls. when we reached Mastikatte, local people told us that entry is prohibited since many years. There were 2 reasons for the prohibition of the entry, 1) This falls comes under Varahi Hydro-electric project. 2) There are many Naxalites in that area. But locals told us to visit Talasi Abbi falls which was just 8 KM's drive from Mastikatte village. With a dissatisfied face we started towards Talasi Abbi falls. Roads were covered by thick green forests. We took a left diversion from Yeduru village after riding for 6 KM's. I was happy to find very less people there, just because we could enjoy our time for a while without any disturbance. The road wasn't confusing us. It's a straight road, we took another left diversion after seeing a sign board. It was 1 KM's fro...

TONDLE FALLS The mesmerising seasonal waterfall is situated inside the Mookambika reserve forests. The waterfall gives its best in rainy season, it is almost unexplored as this is a seasonal waterfall.we got information from our friend and planned a go for it. The plan was to visit Toodali waterfalls and then go to Tondle falls. But due to the heavy rain in Byndoor we stopped at Byndoor for hours together and canceled our plan of visiting Toodali falls. It was 11 in the morning when we left Byndoor. we were a bit disappointed because of cancellation of Toodali (The trekking to this falls is considered difficult). It took us just half an hour to reach a village named Tondle. We asked the help of the villagers to get the route guide. It is situated at a distance of 2 KM's from the main road. We took a left diversion from the main road...

HIDLUMANE FALLS Looking at this beauty in the rainy season is the wonderful experience you will ever have. It's quite tough and dangerous to go there during rainy season. The journey though, will give you a charming experience. It would be better if you visit here in the winter, as both the view and weather would be supportive. Situated in the laps of the Kodachadri hills, this falls hits the ground around from 60-70 feet height. We reached Nittutu at afternoon 3:00 P.M. Nitturu is a small town situated just down on the Kodachadri hills. It was raining heavily, later when the rain slowed down we took our way to the falls. The rain was playing with us. Two times we stopped on the road due the sudden hit of the rain. However, by the time we reached the falls, we were all wet. You will get a home after riding for around 6KM's where you need to park your vehicle. The owner of the home owns a small shop. You can b...

BURUDE FALLS I can say this is one of the dangerous falls of Uttara Kannada District. The journey goes through the dense forests of Siddapura Taluk. It is suggested not to take kids if you plan to go. So many people died here before. We started from Sagara on a fine morning at 9 AM. Just 2 hours drive took us to a village, where the trek starts. We parked our car and started heading down. You will find a small cottage, and here the trek begins. Remember, you need to climb down a steep hill. The distance is just 2-3KM's , but the steep is too shallow. The first phase of the trek could be made by the concrete steps. Then the real struggle begins. As I said earlier, it is too steep, so better not to hold others hands while heading down. We started heading down, and one of us who knew this place better lead us. I was really shocked to see the steep. At a point of time, it seemed just almost impossible to get down. But the urge to see the falls gave us power an...

BHEEMESHWARA Visiting lesser known area brings a kind of peace to all of us. One of those lesser known place is the 'Bheemeshwara falls' which is hidden inside the Sharavathi valley. The cascading waterfall is situated just beside a shiva temple in the centre of the westernghats. So here we go,, we started from the Sagara at morning 8. The weather was quite awesome and supporting. As soon as we reached Talguppa it started raining heavily and we had to stop our journey as we were on bikes. We waited for a couple of minutes and when we realised that this couldn't be done if we won't start our journey, we started biking in the rain itself. When we reached Kargal the rain slowed down, and we took the way towards Bhatkal. It took us for an hour to reach a village named Kogar. We asked locals about the Bheemeshwara falls, they were surprised to see us wet, they were very supportive in guiding us. We rea...
