BHEEMESHWARA
Visiting lesser known area brings a kind of peace to all of us. One of those lesser known place is the 'Bheemeshwara falls' which is hidden inside the Sharavathi valley. The cascading waterfall is situated just beside a shiva temple in the centre of the westernghats.
So here we go,, we started from the Sagara at morning 8. The weather was quite awesome and supporting. As soon as we reached Talguppa it started raining heavily and we had to stop our journey as we were on bikes. We waited for a couple of minutes and when we realised that this couldn't be done if we won't start our journey, we started biking in the rain itself.
When we reached Kargal the rain slowed down, and we took the way towards Bhatkal. It took us for an hour to reach a village named Kogar. We asked locals about the Bheemeshwara falls, they were surprised to see us wet, they were very supportive in guiding us.
We reached another 2KM's towards Bhatkal from Kogar. Then we saw a big board showing left diversion towards Bheemeshwara falls. The road was too steep, this created a fear of taking our bike towards falls. With a strong decision we took our bike in that deep steep road.
After reaching some 50meters we realised that we couldn't take our bikes and left the bike there itself. And from there we started trekking towards falls.
We had to walk for 2KM's to reach the falls. You can hardly find any locals there, it took us around half an hour to reach there. We were able to hear the voice of the falls. There was only one home ,and it was of priest. We asked him to prepare the food. He guided us to the temple.
The temple is fully made by the rocks, just beside the temple the gigantic waterfall is situated, the water often hits the temple sometimes. There was full dark inside the temple, there were no visitors except us. Once again it started raining heavily, as we were fully wet it doesn't make any sense!!
We waited the rain to calm down.after that we took some photos. We went to the bottom of the falls. The cascading waterfall hits the rocks from every angle. The place was wholly covered by the mist even in the afternoon. The combo of temple and the lonely waterfall gave us a sense of serenity.
We came to priest's home and we took our meals which was ordered before, remember you will not get anything to eat nearby, there ain't any places nearby. The food will be prepaid by the priest itself on demand. Priest treated us well. The falls, rain and the temple made our day!!
