BALEBARE GHAT
-CHANDIKESHWARI TEMPLE
-BALEBARE GHAT
Befoe visiting this place, I had heard from many people that , this is a holy place and people visit here from far away places to perform pujas. I was amazed when one of my cousin also gave me review about this temple (actually he won't believe in superstitions and worships).
Normally I travel through the Balebari/Hulikal Ghat(where this temple is situated) to my home (Sagara) from Udupi. I was stunned to see that all the vehicles which passes through this Ghat were stopping there for a while. Even our bus stopped there, and conductor collected kanike (money given by devotees to temple)from us and returned back with kunkuma (a red powder for religious markings in India).
Later I got to know from the local people that this is the strongest god which saves the traveller ,who travel by this ghat. People here do believe that Devi saves them all.
Actually I am one among those who have least interest in worships, temples and all. But I don't know why I was attracted towards that place. Probably it might be the surrounding green nature as usual.
One fine day I made my mind and planned a solo trip to Chandikavana(where the temple is situated) from Udupi. I started from udupi at 9 am and reached there by 12 noon.
Whoh!! I was awestruck by the surrounding green nature. By the time i stepped out of the bus..I was lost in my own thoughts. It was the feeling i always wanted to cherish. i was feeling as if the real beauty of the western ghat was dancing in front of my eyes. The whole surroundings of the temple is covered by the green forests. I was enjoying being alone there.
It was the time of Navaratri. People from different places were there to perform pujas. I just had a look around the temple and started my journey towards Balebare falls(where I actually wanted to go on that day). It is a small falls situated at a walkable distance from the temple. On the way to falls I observed that people who visit Devi temple were also visiting vinayaka temple situated at a distance of 200 meters. As I was in no hurry I made my mind to visit there. The priest was so friendly and invited me for lunch (prasada) at Devi temple. So I returned back with him to the temple once again .By that time the chief priest was performing maha puja in temple. I could feel the positive energy in there, might be the blessings of almighty. Then, I had lunch and started my way back to Balebare falls .
Balebare falls is a small falls situated at roadside itself. I was all alone when I went there. I started staring at it without blinking for some minutes. i just could not take my eyes away...The water flows from the top ,making its own way through the lush green forests and craving rocks that comes in between.. Later a family came there and when I asked them to take some of my pics , the whole forest was hit by the rain !!. So I have no pictures of mine near the falls but the picture of the falls is printed in my mind. I was lucky to get a bus within minutes . I started my journey back to my home ....
Fortunately and unknowingly I spent most of the time around the temple and I loved it . the day spent was worth of it. I will update the photos of Balebare falls once I get there again.
