MADIKERI DAY 1
Our madikeri plan was well planned before a month. Our motive was to have fun than to visit places. It had been 2 years since we hadn't met. We were set ready to take off by Saturday evening in shimoga. We left from shimoga by that night. We had a mini bus booked for our 2 days trip.
NEXT DAY:
We reached Kushalnagara by morning 6. We got freshened up in our prebooked lodge in that city and left towards Dubare elephant camp. Dubare is famous for elephant camp and river rafting. It is situated in the middle of the dense forests. Our Karnataka is famous for Mysore Dussera and elephants for Mysore Dussera are trained here. The wildlife elephant camp is situated in the banks of the holy river Kaveri.
We were surprised to see the number of visitors there. There was a long line of around 50 visitors for river rafting. By seeing the length of line we canceled our plan of river rafting as it was that long and we didn't have much time. We started moving towards elephant camp as soon as we stepped down. We have to pass the Kaveri river to get into elephant camp. Unluckily we weren't able to visit camp, because we were late by just 5 minutes. The entry gets closed by 11 A.M so make sure you reach there before time bar if you want to see how elephants are trained. luckily we were able to catch upto some scenes of elephants being taken into river for a bathe.

We stopped near one of the private river rafting spot to raft but we changed our decision because the water level was too shallow .We decided to swim and it made all the difference. We spent much of our time there swimming. Later we started moving towards Talakaveri. We reached Talakaveri by evening 5:30.
Talakaveri is situated 1276 meters above the sea level in the Bramhagiri hills near Bhagamandala. The temple at this place is dedicated to goddess Kaveramma. According to Hindu mythology the story goes as follows.
Cauvery was born to Kavera maharishi by the blessings of lord Bramha. One fine day sage Agastya came to the ashrama of Kavera maharishi and he fell in love with cauvery. Later cauvery was married to Agastya by her condition of being with her forever. One day when Agastya went to take bathe in Kannika river, he transformed Cauvery into water and filled her in Kamandalu( ancient water pot). Cauvery waited for long and was disappointed by the absence of the Agastya. So by her own devine power she jumped from Kamandalu to Bramhakundige to emerge as a holy river.
There are 2 temples at the top dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha. The temple is situated in the slope of the hill. you will cherish This holy place by its scenic beauty. The entry to the temple will be closed at evening 6. On the occasion of Tulasankramana which comes in the middle of the October, thousands of people gather here to witness the rise of the fountain head. And it is also believed that taking bathe here will transfer the positive energy into the body. One should take utmost care while driving because the road is too steeper.
